Eeshan shines for Montfort

basketball-animationNEW DELHI: Eeshan was the star with seven three-pointers as defending champion Montfort School beat Sachdeva Public School 85-68 in the senior boys’ final of the 20th Hansraj Prabhakar Memorial basketball tournament at the Oxford Senior Secondary School courts, Vikaspuri, on Tuesday.
Eeshan top-scored with 27 points and had quality support from Armaan (24) and Satyan (20) as Montfort won the title for the fourth year in a row.

Montfort School went on to win the senior girls and mini boys titles as well. While the girls’ outplayed Modern School 64-23, the school edged out host Oxford School 37-36 in a thriller in the mini boys final.
In the open free throw competition, Chinmayee of Montfort School won by slotting 14 throws in 30 seconds. In the open three-pointer competition, Kuljeet of Oxford School won by finding the target eight times in 60 seconds.
Saurav Yadav of Oxford School was adjudged the Most Promising Player of the tournament, while Anshul of Sachdeva School was the highest individual scorer with 137 points.
The Deputy Director General, Canteen Services of the Army Head Quarters, Brig. H.S. Brar, presented the prizes.

The results: Finals: Senior boys: Montfort School 85 (Eeshan 27, Armaan 24, Satyan 20) bt Sachdeva PS 68 (Anshul 26, Ashish 13, Sanchit 12). Best player: Lakshay.
Senior girls: Montfort School 64 (Manini 26, A. Chinmayee 16) bt Modern School (Barakhamba Road) 23. Best player: Chinmayee.
Mini boys: Montfort School 37 (Unnat 20) bt Oxford School 36. Best player: Unnat.
Mini girls: Modern School (Barakhamba Road) 23 (Aastha 12) bt Oxford School 14. Best player: Aastha.
