As many as 11 international shuttlers will be seen in action in the three-day all-India inter-institutional badminton championship, sponsored by Airports Authority of India at Dandamudi Rajagopala Rao indoor stadium here from July 15 to 17.

Badminton Association of India secretary (events) Mr. K.Ch. Punnaiah Chowdary said on Thursday that the tournament, held for the first time in Vijayawada, will feature internationals such as K. Nanda Gopal, N. Sikki Reddy, Neha Pandit, B. Sumeeth Reddy (all AAI), N. Srujan, Alwin Francis, Davinder Dhillon (FCI), K. Tanishq, Jyothi Swaroopa (BSNL), N.N. Vinayak and Jaison Xavier (LIC).

“Team events will be held on July 15 and the individual events will commence on July 16. As many as 10 men and four women teams are taking part.”

“The winners of the championship will be eligible to participate in the senior Nationals to be held at Mangalore early next year. Winners will be eligible to play four singles and two doubles while the runner-up will get two singles and one doubles,” he added. — Principal Correspondent.
