Five Kerala athletes in Indian team

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Five athletes from Kerala are among the 13 selected to represent India in the World school athletics championship to be held in Tallin, Estonia, from June 25.

The Kerala athletes who figure in the list are Binish K. Shaji, P.S. Nikhil, Lukmal Hakkim, Sreeshama Rajan and Juby Paily. Chacko Joseph, organiser for sports in schools, Kerala will be the chef-de-mission of the Indian team, while, Jimmy Joseph will accompany the side as its technical official.
Further, three coaches — Sunil Deth, Ajairaj and C.U. Rosamma — will also be part of the Indian squad, according to an official release.
Binish and Lukmal are students of the State champion school — St. George HSS, Kothamangalam, while, Nikhil and Sreeshama are from Kalladi HSS, Kumaaramputhur (Palakkad). Juby, the other Kerala athlete in the team, is a product of Government VHSS, Kannur.
The team: Boys: Manish (Delhi, 100m), Binish K. Shaji (200m), P.S. Nikhil (400m), Ramdas Sahani (Uttar Pradesh, 800m), Lukmal Hakkim (110m hurdles), Ankit (Delhi, long jump), Littan Debbarma (Tripura, high jump) and Jitender (Delhi, pole vault).
Girls: Bibiana Kullu (Orissa, 200m), Sangeeta Yadavv (Uttar Pradesh, 800m), Arati Yadav (Uttar Pradesh, 1500m), Sreeshama Rajan (high jump), Juby Paily (pole vault).
