TIRUCHI: Tiruchi Premier League (TPL) Twenty20 cricket tournament is back with a bang this year. From the number of teams to format and prizes, TPL's second edition has just got bigger.

Township Titans (owner: M.R. Arun, Chairman, PABCET),
Rockfort Riders (D. Bhaskar, Partner, STV),
Manapparai Supersonic (A. Daniel John Kennedy),
Srirangam Super Kings (K. Jayakarna, Chairman, Oxena Group of Companies),

Sporty India (www.sportyindia.com) Sports Production will cover entire event and live Web Cast in their website www.sportyindia.com.
For the tournament inspired by the euphoria generated by IPL, the playing eleven in each team can have a maximum of four players from other districts. The squad must have a minimum of two players from the schools in Tiruchi district.
Ravi Murugaiah, Chairman, Vasan Estates, S. Kathiravan, Vice-chairman, Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Group of Institutions and A. Ravichandran, Managing Director, Savarimuthu Aruldoss Memorial Trust are the sponsors of the tournament.
“TPL aims at identifying talent and providing a platform for district-level cricketers to progress to the next stage,' said D. Thilak Chander, TPL chairman.
Thanking the tournament sponsors, Mr. Thilak expressed hope that the tournament will be a crowd-puller. Those matches scheduled for late evening hours are to be played under floodlights.
At the function organised here on Monday to introduce team owners, Ravi Murugaiah, Chairman, Vasan Estates, released the TPL logo in the presence of G. Vinoth, Vice-president, TPL, and R. Veeraraghavan, secretary.
Urging the team owners to pick cricketers from the rural parts as well in their squad, Mr. Ravi Murugaiah said that the tournament will provide an opportunity for the young cricketers to showcase their skills.
K.G. Muralidharan, secretary, Tiruchi District Cricket Association (TDCA), felt that the start of TPL has been well-timed to coincide with the culmination of the World Twenty20. Cricket enthusiasts, he believes, will extend the fervour to the TPL.
The final will be played on May 30. The winning team will receive a cash award of Rs. 3 lakh and the runner Rs. 1.5 lakh.
