BHARAT RATNA: Maj. Dhyan Chand or Sachin Tendualkar
The issue of Bharat Ratna to Sporting personalities have made headlines in India and
getting most sports oriented people of India's attention. There is no doubt that Sports
Legends, especially those who meaningfully have contributed the services to Nation in
sports arena is proudly deserving to be conferred the most prestigious honour of India.
If one look in to the definition or requirement of the honour that stipulates any
citizen Of India with described norms shall be conferred Bharat Ratna and at such
Sporting personalities Shall be included in the line too.
Shamefully and with great disgrace a controversy is surfacing about who shall be
granted the honour in line of sports arena. There is no doubt in the mind of any
sportingly educated person in India to choose who the most deserving legend of sports
in India shall be honoured with such Honour. No one can even come closer to
Maj. Dhyan Chand with the legacy of his outstanding and extraordinary performances
and to put India on the world map with grace and respect, who was pivotal person to
bring the ever best sporting laurels to India. In India he was called magician and
whole world agreed with that. Maj. Dhyan Chand did that outstanding mark while India
still was the slave of British Rule. He played in time where no money or facility was
granted to players. He used his own finance and to do that he even made his own family
part his earning from his limited salary. He discarded and refused the greener pasture
made to him from world leaders. Even being under British rule he used to put tri colour
of our flag before British flag.
Now some chokers and self confessed sporting God and his supporters are putting the
shame to Maj. Dhyan Chand while bringing the money monger Sachin tendualkar who made
billions of Rs. From so called playing a sports which is played by only ten to fifteen
countries in world. In India the event is more of commercial than sports but just
because they have covered the media and unsporting people of India while involving
corrupted politicians with them with money monger business corporate of India with
them, trying to put Sachin Tendualkar, higher than Maj. Dhyan Chand. And as usual,
Indian emotional fool public is made believe that Sachin tendualkar deserve for the
Honour. Every day on TV, Print Media propaganda is getting shape for conferring the
Honour to a man that since his first run he was only playing for money. One who even
kept quite when his own people were killing and harassing the Indians in India.
He rarely could save loosing Indian team whenever the needs were arise. He continued
play for Indian Team while being injured; he was the part of team who shamefully under
performed at West Indies world cup. He shamefully failed at England series. He keeps
taking advantages to be in team on his own terms. When he wants, he plays, when he
doesn’t wish, he doesn’t. When someone have such leverage. player can even play for
30 to 35 years. So what great if he played for 20+ years. Just Playing for more years
and making runs how could he be made greatest.
This illusion of 100th 100 and 30+ thousand runs is just a illusion created by
BCCI/ and Corrupted media.Another problem in India is due to biased Indian media who
will not write anything about the truth and true picture of any other deserving
personell untill they are not paid as their desires. I still have strong fear that
Sachin will be brought over Maj. Dhyan Chand, looking at the influence they
have on Indian Politics. I just Pray God to save us from this self confessed God and
we don’t carry the shame in future. If Anyone feel that sachin has done better than
come open and prove that he done better than Maj. Dhyan Chand or many more Sporting
legends of India. But I know His supporter and he himself will never come open, all we
will hear is that 1st Sports Bharat Ratna is given to self confessed God Mr. Sachin
Tendualkar. And like many other injustice in India we will observe this one too.

SAVE BHARAT RATNA
DECIDE!!! TO STAND WITH SHAME OR HONESTY
"!!BHARAT RATNA TO CRICKETERS,FILM STARS A SHAMEFUL MOCKERY OF AWARD: Markandey Katju!
!"I thank Justice Katju to speak up. The truth is slowly but strongly taking surface
picture in India. People who demand the BHARAT RATNA shall know the defination of
BHARAT RATNA. The basic principal behind BHARAT RATNA is that the " Any citizen of
India who have served the nation with no self interest and gain" Now how on earth
SACHIN TENDUALKAR ever can be considered for such award as in 23 years Sachin have
made more money than runs he made. Other than self raising, he never made any
contribuation toward Indian Soceity. Fans of Sachin Tendualkar shall remember that b4
they claim be fan and chamcha of Sachin tendualkar, they Indian Citizen and they shall
not stand behind wrong side of Future History or they will be just ashmmed in their
coming generation.
ITS A LIE LIE LIE THAT WHOLE INDIA IS BEHIND THIS CHOCKER/SUSPECTED MATCH FIXURE/MONEY
MONGER AND POLITICAL INFLUNCED, SELF CONFESSED GOD NAMED SACHIN TENDUALKAR TO AWARD
HIM BHARAT RATNA.IN INDIA THERE ARE MILLIONS WHO DONT EVEN KNOW HIM AND MILLIONS WHO
TAKES HIM JUST AS A CRICKETER ONLY. HE HAVE NO CAPABILITY TO BE NAMED BHARAT RATNA.
IF HE GETS BHARAT RATNA THEN ALL KNOW THAT ITS HIS MONEY WHICH BOUGHT HIM THE AWARD
LIKE HE DID TO MAKE HIS RUNS.

Already Sachin already acquired lots of money and plots by Govt and People as
recognition. Have they donated anything to the Poor or any social cause. It is shame
and absurd if the Govt misuse the Bharat Ratna award. It should go to non commercial,
not money minded scientist, social workers

Cricketers and cinema artists already collected vast wealth and fame from public for
talents. All their talents are kept alive because of promotions through technological
development which they should thank to without which their height of fame and wealth
would never have made it. Without people dipping in their pocket to view their art or
feat (if that is what they did) would they have used their convenience and trouble to
seek their passion which is purely entertainment to the viewers? It would be
appreciative act or initiative on their part if they had really come forward on their
own accord to give back to people, who love their talents they display and raise them
in wealth, something in return from what they had collected from the people, in form
of institutions sports centre, academy, hospitals, and many more. Then, that would be
a cause for Bharat Ratna for their attempt to improve life of the people they love if
so they love. These awards are merely to facilitate the politicians dispensing such
awards to be seen with the rich and the famous already. The professional sports and
performing artist already have many many awards to be displayed on their
showcase/mantel. Give highest awards of the nation to deserving people,
who excel in any art which inspire the generation to be proud of and who has made it
with their best own struggle and efforts that will bring meaning of achievement for
praise not just for ceremony and celebrity display. Selected People who already
gained jewels from public applaud and paying to attend their performance their time
is to return something to people. The motto in The Bharat Ratna is to be down to earth
struggle and rise to excellence. Hence, considering Sachin tendualkar will put black
spot and shame on BHARAT RATNA.

We common man do not understand how a film star or cricketer become a "RATNA" of
Bharath. Whatever they do is for money and they do everything to make money...
And by acting or playing in their respective fields, what is their contributions to
the society...Can anyone explain... Tomorrow the government will include presidents of
all political parties who have completed a specific term for awarding bharath ratna...
and also those who have looted more wealth in the name of politics...

we all love Sachin for his achievements in cricket. He has earned well in the process
beyond any other sportsman pehaps. Bharat Ratna is to be awarded to a person who has
made stellar contribution to the Nation's progress and upliftment of the masses.his
contribution to socio-economic changes is negligible Hence it is wrong to consider
Sachin for Bharat Ratna.

Yes it is correct to say that it is not good to give to the cricketers/nor the film
stars, what they have done to the country to give this award, they have playing for
theri lively hood and making the money even in advertisement, but the chamchas and
brainless people only give this award to these worthless people and by that we are
down grading the award and on some other day some politicians also get it even though
he has been convicted in corruption/rape cass etc.,

agree with Justice Katju obervation. Not sure what is the hurry to give bharat ratna
to Tendulkar when his contribution to public life is zero and he is always in front
row to seek govt concession whether it is house or car. where is spirit of sacrifies
for the country. He such selfish guy that he has even never appeared in program like
Jai Jawan by NDTV etc ...See More

After a long time some one is there who has put things straight. I fully agree with
u. Hope people understand the importance of these award. It should given only to those

I agree with the gentleman. Would anyone give Nobel prize to Tendulkar? Why? Because
the prize is not meant for sports stars. Would Magsaysay award be conferred to
Shahrukh Khan? No, because that award is not meant to be given to the superstars,
Cricket who has destroyed Indians badly. It is the game of the lazy elites, which was
introduced by British feudalists in India for their own pastime. Real sportsmen play
Hockey,Football,Volleyball,Basketball,Tennis ETC. F**k Cricket!

Thanks, tumhara sensible comment. No Bharatratna for Sachin. Cricket is not our
national game. No harm is giving award to great sports people like dhyanchand,
P T Usha etc.posthumously to prominent film personalities
like Ashok Kumar in his birth centenary year. Even Dev anand should also be given
this highest honour

I agree with you. Bharat Ratna to Cricketer!!! who plays for himself, for money! How
can one compare sachin with Nehru, Gandhi, Gopalachari, Patel etc. What is his
contribution to the nation, is it 100 centuries in over 20 years? earning Cr of
Rs individually.

SACHIN TENDULKAR: A PLAYER!!!!!!!
So many times this subject has created arguements and I feel People who call Sachin
a God is just Insulting him and his contribution. There is no doubt that he is iconic
Sports Person of India. Sachin has played great Cricket. He had put a winning mark of
his ability in Cricketing world. But calling him a God puts serious questions on his
ability and position to earn likings or respect.
People who call him a God or He himself thinks If he is a God than all those who
consider him God should answer that How God can loose, fail at many stages of life
(does God even have life and death). Many times India lost matches while Sachin was
in Team. How? and if there are certain execuses than how can he be God??
In simple norm any sane person know he is nothing more than a human with so many
mistakes and achievements like many others. At such shall we consider those who consider
him a God are Insane or brainless. I think yes. Because if they are not insane and have
brain then how come they cant see his ability and respect him for his great
contribuation to cricket. If he has any posibility of being God than why did he took
21 years to make 99 number of 100.
If he is God than why didnt he ever contributed towards suffering of many Indians. How
could he as God only sorted out his own performance against receiving financial gains.
To me this man is just a creation of his own and some group's benefitial agenda who
in turn make lods of money out of creating the false norm of him being God. This group
puts the stakes of financial interest to media, chosen people( Like buying the people
to welcome and make slogans for Tom Cruise's India visit.)
There is nothing suggests that Sachin Tendualkar is even close to great sporting icons
of world and he is just been made a successful sporting personality whithin India only.
More shamful act comes when he accepts the idiotic suggestion of foolish people to call
him a God. He may enjoy that but what he forgets is while living in this false pretence
he is even loosing a consideration being a great sports person.
To me and millions like me consider Sachin tendulkar just a sports person who loosing
the grace of being a wonderful player in greed to be a God. GOD!! My Foot.

A shot in the arm for Shagun
Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ) has announced that it would support India's trap shooter Shagun Chowdhary. Ranked eighth in the world, she recently secured a quota place for the 2012 London Olympics with a fourth place finish at the ISSF World Championships in Belgrade in September 2011.
Viren Rasquinha, OGQ CEO, said: “OGQ has identified key areas for support to Shagun which are foreign training trips, mental training sessions and world-class equipment.
“We are confident that OGQ's support will help her become more consistent and achieve her dream of an Olympic medal.”
The Jaipur-based girl started competitive shooting in 2001, but took it up seriously only in 2003. She won her first international medal at the Asian clay shooting championship in 2003 — a bronze in double trap.
Shagun switched to trap in 2005, as the double trap event for women was scrapped from the Olympics.

A goldmine in Indian sport: Patekar
Actor Nana Patekar
Nandakumar Marar
Actor Nana Patekar is gearing himself for a bigger role in taking shooting sport to the masses. He will participate in 50m rifle prone event at the forthcoming 55th National shooting championships.
Excerpts from a chat at the Balewadi shooting range with Patekar:
Your comment on India's excellence in the sport
Air gun events are affordable. In the other events, cost of the equipment keeps people away. Our focus should be on supporting them. When more people get involved with shooting, we can gain more success internationally.
Apart from competing in 50m prone at the Nationals, in what other ways are you involved in popularising the sport
In a few days from now, I am joining Gun for Glory Academy as a director. My role will be to promote the sport and bring talented kids to the academy.
In Abhinav Bindra we have a current Olympic champion, apart from others who have been world record holders…
It is time the government realised that shooting is a goldmine. Bindra won the Olympic gold, but it is not just he. We have Gagan (Narang) and (Sanjeev) Rajput who can do well.
Away from the shooting range, how do you keep in touch with the sport?
I have the SCATT (shooting simulator system) with me. You need a passion for something to do well.
Reason for choosing 50m rifle prone
Nothing in particular. I guess it suits me. I am taking part in the Nationals after my shooter friends Sanjeev Rajput (2011 World Cup winner in 50m rifle three position) and Lajja Goswami (Commonwealth Games silver medal in women's pairs 3P) convinced me that I am good enough to compete.

Footballer Titty passes away
Dear Readers
We are request you if you have Mr.T.D. Titty's Photos please send to us.
T.D. Titty, who lit up the Sait Nagjee all-India football tournament with his goals in the late seventies and early eighties, passed away in Aluva on Tuesday. He was 53.
“He played for Premier Tyres along with Xavier Pius, T.A. Jaffar, M.M. Paulose and K.P. Williams… people still remember the goal he scored against Mohun Bagan in the Nagjee tournament in 1978. He was just around 21 then. His picture even came as a centrespread in the Sportstar those days,” said former international M.M. Jacob.
“But he suffered a knee injury very early in his career, in the early eighties, so he could not play for Kerala in the Santosh Trophy.”

Hockey's Dilemma
Uthra G Chaturvedi
Around this time two years ago, Indian hockey saw the first faint signs of what would, in some ways, become its own version of a non-violent uprising. It resulted in all the 40-odd national campers uniting and in an unprecedented move going on a strike for 10 days in January 2010. Demanding their dues, the bunch refused to practice, in the face of threats of being thrown out en masse. With the B team and the age group teams too weighing in with their support, authorities had to finally back down, with bruised egos — not the least because of the World Cup, which was less than a month away. Two years on, a repeat seems very much on the cards — the trigger this time being the World Series Hockey (WSH).
For a country that measures sporting success in podium finishes and rewards in monetary terms, it would appear a no-brainer.
With no competition between the first week of December (the Champions Challenge in South Africa) and the all-important Olympic Qualifiers in late February, what harm can a month-long league do, other than give some crucial match practice to the players?
But for those who claim to know more of these things than the layman, it seems to have all the ingredients of a disaster in the making. With chief coach Michael Nobbs shooting off his warning against the league – saying it would disrupt any plans of Olympic qualifications – the issue has now grown beyond a war of administrative factions to one that, once again, pits the players against the authorities.
Coach's take
Nobbs's recommendations to Hockey India, and the government, insist that if top players quit the national camp to compete in the WSH, his road map for Olympic qualification will go awry. “During the league, players will be playing under different coaches for nearly four weeks. They are bound to change their style a bit, this will undo all the hard work done over the past few months to perfect a system,” he writes.
While it may seem logical in a country that is accustomed to its Olympic athletes training for months together in preparatory camps, most people in favour of the WSH disagree, saying it ain't the 80s anymore.
“Why should there be any conflict? The footballers are doing this day in and day out. No player wants to jeopardise the Indian team's preparation for the Olympics. But I think like footballers, they too can manage,” says goalkeeper Adrian D'Souza.
Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) president RK Shetty says the same. “Even in football the national team players are selected on the basis of the performance in the league matches itself. You see a Fabio Capello coming down to watch a Manchester United game and I think Nobbs should do the same thing,” he says.
The league is being organised by Nimbus Sports in association with the IHF. In fact, there is near unanimity on whether playing in the WSH will affect playing style. And with most of the current players avid followers of European football, they feel there is no dichotomy in turning out for different clubs and the national team. “Did Cesc Fabregas become incapable of playing for Spain just because he was a professional with Arsenal? I don't think so. It is a non-issue, really,” says a senior player.
Prabhjot Singh, who has played in both the German and British leagues, says there is absolutely no problem. “Not just the foreign leagues, we often go to national camps after a domestic tournament for our employers and no one so far has questioned Indian players' commitment or ability because of playing under different coaches. The basic game remains the same, only the gameplan differs. And I feel 10-15 days is more than enough to put that plan in place,” he says.
There's much to be taken from the presence of some ingenious foreign coaching brains roped in by the WSH, according to another junior player Vikas Sharma, who travelled to the recent tourney in Australia. “Top coaches from Germany, Holland, Australia and Spain are coming and we will get to know about different styles and formations. Also, I believe that this tournament will teach us the value of team work. Indian hockey is all about individual brilliance. To match the top teams, we need to play as a team,” he opines.
Those not in favour, however, feel there won't be much time to practice after the league. “The coach is right. This is an important year for us. We need to qualify for the Olympics. With the WSH, no training is possible for 45 days and it will take its toll on the players. Our fitness will definitely go down and we might lose out on the combination between the players as well,” feels Bharat Chhetri, who captained India on the recent Australia tour.
A messy administrative set-up might make it impossible to consider, but India drag flicker Diwakar Ram who roots for the concept of the WSH, but has reservations about the timing, reckons both sides could seek a mid-path. “It’s better to postpone the WSH for a couple of months and organise it after the qualifiers. Definitely the timing is not right. Olympic is a huge event. We failed to qualify last time, so this time we have to ensure that we get into the main event,” he says.
Old-timers, a touch edgy and worried about India missing out on a second successive Olympics don’t see why the WSH can’t be deferred by two months. Gurbax Singh, Olympic gold medal winner and BHA secretary, makes allowances for changing times but insists commitment for your country is non-negotiable. “What hell will break loose if they organise the tournament after the Olympic qualifiers, which is in February. I don’t think the postponement will make any difference. If the national coach wants a longish camp, then so be it. India comes first,” he roars. Interestingly, the WSH gets over on January 22 – two days before the official training camp for the qualifiers is to begin.
Change of plans
There are also concerns that playing in the WSH will put players' training rhythm off. Hockey India has claimed that they have a plan B in place, which entails preparing juniors for the qualifiers in the extreme case of senior players insisting on playing the WSH.
This sounds uncannily similar to the threat held out in January last year during the strike, one that failed to deter the players. This time, with more than 100 Indians signing up for the WSH, one wonders where the federation will make up the numbers from. And even if they could, what would be the level of that team? Also, while Nobbs was earlier supposed to watch the ongoing under-21 tournament in Malaysia to identify potential players, he skipped that meet and so has no idea about junior India players in action.
Money matters
There are other issues at stake as well. Despite hockey being conferred the title of the national sport, there is no denying the fact that it doesn't pay to be a professional hockey player in the country, unless they manage to get a decent job – most of which are only with the government departments and PSUs. For a league that promises money in lakhs for the 30-day event – upto Rs 10 lakh per player in the top category – this is big, by hockey standards.
“Let's face it, financial security is important. And Indian hockey players belong either to the middle or lower-middle class. With the kind of turmoil the game is in nationally – whether administrative, selection or performance wise – which player would want to risk his future?
Let's be clear: everyone wants to play for India; there is no bigger honour than that, and that remains the first priority for all. But you cannot force a player to choose between national honour and financial security,” says another senior player, who has signed up with WSH.
Most importantly, for the players, it's their employers who have the final say, since none can afford to lose their jobs. “We haven't been told anything by our companies. And as long as there is no stopping from them, no player will think twice about playing the WSH,” is the common refrain.
The peripheral issues
For a long time now, Indian hockey has only had negatives to talk about. Whether it was differences within the team, the pittance paid as reward for winning a title or the administrative wrangles, there has hardly been any positive news about the sport. Now the WSH – a glitzier, richer and racier version of the Premier Hockey League (PHL) that died a premature death – promises to bring back the crowds to the sport, bring in money and glamour and put it back in national consciousness. Sources have claimed that of the eight city-based franchises that will be participating in the league, two have been bought by Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Suniel Shetty.
And with the games being played across India on home and away basis, the WSH will have a pan-Indian appeal that the PHL failed to bring. All these are incentives enough to draw players. Nobbs’s warning to the Sports Authority of India – which in turn sought denial of permission to the national campers from the sports ministry – has been shot down. Sports Minister Ajay Maken has made it clear that the government will not get involved in the issue, even as the FIH continues to term the series an “unsanctioned event”. With administrators refusing to seek a compromise and let go of ego issues, the players, it seems, are ready yet again to take charge of their futures themselves.

F1 INDIAN GP
"Indian Grand Prix F1" wow what can I say, Feel great and proud to be part of that
country who produced a wonderful and Top class event. Thanks to Jaypee Group.
They made us feel proud and took us out of shame of CWG and IPL sagas. Found
Tendualkar making his forceful entry in this wonderful event as " Sachin Tendulkar
may be a renowned figure in the cricketing circle but for all foreign journalists and
photographers and world known motor sport guests, who are witnessing and covering the
inaugural Indian Grand Prix, the iconic batsman still remains an unknown figure".
But certainly the day marked a pleasing feeling without any mess and controvercies.
What I feel here is that such events and organisations are a guideline and shall up
lift the Indian morale to all other sports entities n codes which should learn that
other than cricket as well many other activity or sports event can be made successful.

TITANIUM SCAM - THE REAL STORY
“POWER CORRUPTS AND ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS ABSOLUTELY’’ When the Judiciary,
Legislature and Executive are involved in a corruption or if they condone corruption,
what becomes the plight of common man? If the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau,
Central Vigilance Commission and CBI fail to do their duty honestly, how can justice
prevail in our country or how to bring the culprits to justice? Travancore Titanium
Products Limited, Trivandrum was incorporated in 1946 and commenced commercial
production in the year 1951. TTPL has been making sustained profit over half a
century and had been giving employment to over 1,500 persons. The Pollution Control
Act came into force in 1974. However, the non pollution issues of Travancore Titanium
remain unresolved even after the passage of 35 years. So far the company has wasted
over Rs.100 crores for a most unviable and unwanted pollution control project which
was solely aimed at corruption. The most perplexing aspect of the rampant corruption
in our country is that a village officer taking a bribe of a meager Rs.100 is given up
to eight years of rigorous imprisonment by the Court whereas those who make off with
Rs.100 crore escape scot-free as the art of looting public money is perfected through
cunning ways by the bureaucrats and technocrats. This enquiry report of one of the
biggest corruption scams in the history of Kerala will surely create awareness among
the people - “ how vested interests, ignorance, inefficiency, lack of integrity and
courage of Politicians, Trade Union leaders, Bureaucrats, Technocrats, Judges and
lawyers when work in tandem can lead to the destruction of Public Sector Units of our
Country.” The pertinent question is why should honest people take up the fight against
corruption?

Paes can't wait for the Indian Grand Prix
Mumbai: Tennis ace Leander Paes has always spoken of his love for the adrenalin rush that comes with wearing India on his sleeve. But on Friday, he revealed to MiD DAY that he has a love for speed and all that goes with it too. "I love Formula One. It's an exhilarating sport with some crazy speed and demands a very high level of fitness," said Paes.
Inevitably, the Indian GP is high on Paes' agenda. "I can't wait for October 30. I think we'll do a great job of the Indian GP. I'm keen to see how it pans out. 110 percent I will be there to watch it in New Delhi," he said.
The five-time Olympian even has an F1 hero. "I've been a huge fan of the late Brazilian Ayrton Senna. He was my hero," said Paes. Senna, 34 years old at the time, was killed after his Williams' Formula One car slammed into a concrete wall while attempting a corner at high speed (about 135 mph) even as he was leading in Lap 6 of the San Marino Grand Prix in 1994. The three-time Formula One champion (1988, 1990, 1991) was the last F1 driver to die in a crash.
Paes said he admired the Brazilian for his lifestyle both on and off the pitch. "On the track, Senna was definitely one of the best Formula One drivers ever. But off the track, he was a good human being too. I admired him for his ideologies and for all that he stood by. I think he was a fantastic athlete, superb driver and great human being," added Paes, who could not take to the court for his US Open mixed-doubles semi-final with Russian partner Elena Vesnina due to a back injury.
Subsequently he even missed India's Davis Cup tie against Japan. Currently though the 38-year-old 12-time Grand Slam winner has returned to full training and will travel to China with partner Mahesh Bhupathi with the Shanghai Masters on his mind.
Paes has visited quite a few F1 races too. "My favourite race has to be the Monaco GP. I think it's one of the world's most beautiful F1 street races. I'm keen to witness a night race in Singapore though. Somehow, due to my tennis commitments, I've not been able to catch that one," he said.

Sports Sciences Institute on Chinese model
China will serve as the prime model for the National Institute of Sports Sciences to be set up by the Union Sports Ministry at the Nehru Stadium on November 1.
Announcing the plan that the institute would be first set up as a society before being converted into an Institute of national importance by an Act of Parliament, the Union Sports Minister Ajay Maken, who addressed the media here on Saturday, stated that the project would be drafted under the 12th five-year plan for budgetary allocation.
The project is expected to cost Rs.200 crore and another Rs. 100 crore is scheduled to be spent on various regional centres and linking them up with the national institute.
“I had visited China recently and met the Chinese Sports Minister, Liu Peng, and saw the Chinese Institute of Sports Sciences. We will have linkages and have the same pattern as China,” Maken said.
The hockey institute would be set up at the Dhyanchand National Stadium by the Sports Authority of India with emphasis on research and development, apart from archives for material related to the game.
The establishment of the hockey institute is expected to cost about Rs.20 crore and the minister said that the money would be provided from the National Sports Development Fund (NSDF).
The SAI would also sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for three years, with the All India Football Federation (AIFF) on October 5, to set up a football hub at the Nehru Stadium. The turf would be developed by the AIFF and it would get to use the facility for 40 days in a year for national and international events.
The SAF football tournament is scheduled to be conducted as part of the deal in December.
The sports minister announced that the ‘come and play' scheme would become operational in all the regional centres of SAI and Special Area Games (SAG) centres shortly.
It was announced that the government would soon establish institutes for cycling, swimming, athletics, football and gymnastics at the various stadia developed for the Commonwealth Games.

SPORTS IN INDIA!!!!!!!!!!!
How poluted and roten our India have become that NSD's Proposal which is related to
Sports of India and says that Sports personalities shall be the part of Admin,
The sports bodies shall be under the investegative system is not acceptable by
Politicians. Who the hell are politician to decide that!!! So according to Politicians,
Sports shall run by non sporting people who dont know anything about Sports and when
they want to fill their swiss accounts, they shall be allowed and people shall have no
right to develop sports. Shame on Indians who just let such things happen and keep
standing and watching. So now Man Mohan singh and Sonia Gandhi with those bigg bellies
are going to tell us How to play sports and Players shall stay in dormetary while
these politically corrupt sports officials are going to save the money for their 10th
generation. Indians better play those games of Mahabharata which can put women on stake
and take her cloths out instead trying to be in sports world. I feel ashamed to be
Indian Sports person.
We Choose a leader, he begs to us, tells us big promises. We trust and elect them.
And the moment they get elected, They think its their Birth Right to be there.
We are now slave of them. They can do anything. They got money Power everything.
Remeber Mr. Chosen, if we can elect you then we are capable to kickand roll you on
ground too.
These politician who ruining the India s Sports system shall know that they may run
on road to save their life too. Just wait till that Moment come. If we can give we can
take as well. If we can put them high, we can burry them as well. Dont run high n dry
with brain.
I just wonder and get confused about the Sports knowledge of sports writers and
critics of India that how much they know sports. They Compare and put Sachin Tendulkar
in line
with Dhaynchand, Anand etc while all these greats have proved their metal out of whole
the world and Tendulkar is Great only among 10 selected family countries. Its like the
best Kabaddi Player of India is higher than all Sports Greats as Kabaddi is mostly
played in 3-4 countries.
Most of % of Indians live under poverty line but have time to sit 5 days and watch some
drama in a ground called CRICKET, they have that much time to spent but cant work and
earn money. Even stadiums are empty, CRICKETRS make millions. Media denies any new
country coming in CRICKET as they dont have fools in those countries to watch and
advertise the products. Isnt it a business and not sprots. PPL are clapping, jumping
and getting mad seeing a old fart with big tummy hitting six!!!! now imagine PPL are
doing same to see Amitabh Bacchan jumping from ten story building, sharukh khan walking
after getting bullets in his body. What difference in CRICKET and FILMS. Both are
fictions which take ppl in dreamland. No one in world consider CRICKET a SPORT other
than few countries and thats why they have no place in Olympics.
What a big Insult to Dhayanchand, anand, Milkha singh, Usha, anju, shahid, prakash,
jimmy and many more greats when they are toppled and compared by Cricketers who have
a family of action and forcing world to consider them in sports.
I am aware of ardent and mad with no knowledge of sports fans of CRICKET and SPOONS of
corrupt politicians in India will not agree with me, specially the Media as they need
money out of carrying wrong path for short way of making money, but come forward and
and prove me wrong and put Cricket in Olympics than talk, Till them you all are nothing
more than a baboon who jumps high to fail down.

Revving up style, oomph, racing IQ for Indian Grand Prix
New Delhi: Four pretty young things, with a faint clue of F1 - "The Fast and The Gorgeous 2" winners, who will be the face of the Force India team for a year - are not just busy looking good, but clueing themselves about car racing in the run-up to the Formula One Indian Grand Prix in Greater Noida next month.
Neha Raghuvanshi, Kaizeen Daruvallah, Rani Patel and Alisha Walia - the `speed divas` - will raise the glamour quotient on the racing track by cheering for the Force India F1 team at the Airtel Grand Prix of India, which is expected to draw huge crowds at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida Oct 28-30.
But never in their dreams, which are about making it big in the modelling world, did they think of being associated with an adrenaline-pumping sport like car racing.
Kaizeen, who was one among the 16 girls who were judged on their endurance, speed and appeal, says that she is a sporty girl and that the idea of F1 gives her a kick.
"I am quite adventurous and sporty. In fact, I was a lot into athletics during my school days and used to be a long distance runner.
So an association with Force India sounded very interesting. Besides, `The Fast and The Gorgeous` was about being glamourous and sexy, and when I took part, I felt it was very classy as well," the Mumbai-based girl told IANS.
Unhesitatingly, she admits she doesn`t know much about F1, but is learning.
"The F1 is quite close - next month! So I am trying to find out more about the sport through the internet," added the former air hostess, who is looking forward to "screaming my lungs out, jumping around and enjoying" to support the Indian racing team.
Alisha of Ludhiana puts it as bluntly as it gets: "Honestly, I wasn`t aware of anything about F1. But I had heard about `The Fast and The Gorgeous` and I was really excited about being a part of it."
Her brief knowledge about F1 came thanks to her participation in the NDTV Good Times` reality show.
"Once I was into the show, I got to know what car racing and F1 is all about. I am very upbeat about the event and about travelling the world over with the Force India team. It`s a great platform," said Alisha, 23.
The Force India team is owned by Vijay Mallya of UB Group and Kingfisher Airlines.
Rani said Sunday`s Singapore Grand Prix was their first big event as the `speed divas`.
But now it is going to be a racing extravaganza on home turf.
"I am excited about representing the Force India team at an event on such a scale. So far we don`t have much of an idea about what we have to do, but I am sure with our hotness, we will set the racing track on fire," said the acting aspirant.
Neha, who is the youngest of them all, says it "feels very nice" to get a chance to "cheer up" the Force India team.
International names like pop star Lady Gaga and DJs Roger Sanchez, Edward Maya and Tom Navy are already set to raise the mercury levels at the Formula One after-parties.
"I have been hearing big things about the event and that people are willing to spend a lakh (of rupees) for a table. So it is a wonderful opportunity to be able to support an Indian team at such an event. Vijay and Siddharth Mallya are big names in the industry and I`m happy to be one of the winners," said the 20-year-old, whose favourite racer is Michael Schumacher.
Neha "can`t wait to pose next to a Ferrari and other cars", and hopes for a "sporty and sexy" look on the racing track.
Amidst cheerleaders and fans from all over the world, will these Force India girls stand out? Watch this space Oct 28-30!

Paes wants to be AIFF brand ambassador
Indian tennis icon Leander Paes, who will participate in the Olympics for the sixth time next year, said he is keen to promote Indian football, perhaps in the role of a brand ambassador.
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has also responded positively to Paes’ proposal as the senior vice—president Subrata Dutta assured that he would consult with the AIFF President Praful Patel on the matter.
“We would be more than eager to have a world famous athlete like Leander on board. I will have a word with the President,” said Dutta.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of Indian Football Awards, organised by the Football Players’ Association of India last night, the 12—time Grand Slam winner Paes said football is in his blood and he would like to motivate the youngsters to take up the sport.
“I’ve both Goan and Bengali genes, so football is in my blood. I would love to be associated with Indian football,” said Paes.
“I remember as a young kid I used to spend a lot of time playing football. If I can motivate young children and show them that with a small ball they can travel the world, it will be really nice. I am willing to help in my own little way, if the football federation is looking for someone who can promote the brand,” he added.
Paes said Bhaichung Bhutia, Jose Barreto and Beto are his favourite footballers in India.
The 38—year—old, who has recovered from his injury and is ready to return to competitive tennis next week, said the secret of his longevity in sport is his simple life.
“There is no shortcut to success. I don’t smoke and I lead a clean life. I will be featuring in my sixth Olympics (in London 2012), if I can motivate the youngsters to grow as athletes, I will be really happy.
“More and more youngsters should try to become good athletes, who can make India a sporting nation,” he said.

Ms. Jayalalithaa said 25 promising boys and 25 girls would get training in advanced techniques at the Centre of Excellence. Besides helping them study in the best schools in the city, the government would provide them with sportswear and goods, a modern gym, assistance and training to take part in sports events abroad.
Expenditure
The centre would cost the government Rs. 1 crore as non-recurring expenditure and Rs 70.90 lakh as recurring expenditure per year.
Ms Jayalalithaa also substantially increased the prize money for Tamil Nadu sportspersons winning medals in Olympic games, Asian games, Commonwealth games and South Asian games.
The prize money scheme was launched by her in 2002.
As per the new scheme, a gold medallist in Olympics will get Rs 2 crore instead of Rs. 1 crore, a silver medallist Rs. 1 crore instead of Rs. 50 lakh and a bronze medallist Rs. 50 lakh instead of Rs. 25 lakh.

Ms. Jayalalithaa said her government had decided to increase students' intake in the nine sports hostels in nine districts and three sports schools with hostel facilities.
At present a total of 860 students are studying in these institutions and it will be increased to 1,100. It will cost Rs. 1 crore non-recurring expenditure and Rs. 1.16 crore as recurring expenditure per year.
Sports hostels
Moreover, the State government will open sports hostels in the other 23 districts to ensure that all the districts in the State had sports hostels.
