Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ) has announced that it would support India's trap shooter Shagun Chowdhary. Ranked eighth in the world, she recently secured a quota place for the 2012 London Olympics with a fourth place finish at the ISSF World Championships in Belgrade in September 2011.

Viren Rasquinha, OGQ CEO, said: “OGQ has identified key areas for support to Shagun which are foreign training trips, mental training sessions and world-class equipment.

“We are confident that OGQ's support will help her become more consistent and achieve her dream of an Olympic medal.”

The Jaipur-based girl started competitive shooting in 2001, but took it up seriously only in 2003. She won her first international medal at the Asian clay shooting championship in 2003 — a bronze in double trap.

Shagun switched to trap in 2005, as the double trap event for women was scrapped from the Olympics.
