T.D. Titty, who lit up the Sait Nagjee all-India football tournament with his goals in the late seventies and early eighties, passed away in Aluva on Tuesday. He was 53.

“He played for Premier Tyres along with Xavier Pius, T.A. Jaffar, M.M. Paulose and K.P. Williams… people still remember the goal he scored against Mohun Bagan in the Nagjee tournament in 1978. He was just around 21 then. His picture even came as a centrespread in the Sportstar those days,” said former international M.M. Jacob.

“But he suffered a knee injury very early in his career, in the early eighties, so he could not play for Kerala in the Santosh Trophy.”
